Visiting BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Akshardham: A Temple So Beautiful It Takes Time to Sink In

Words Don’t Quite Do It Justice

courtesy of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Akshardham

You’re not allowed to film inside the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Akshardham temple, and while that might feel disappointing at first, it actually forces you to be present. The interior is made of hand-carved white marble … not decorative marble, but thousands of hours of meticulous craftsmanship. Rows of columns, each one different. Ceilings layered with carvings so detailed they feel almost three-dimensional.

There’s a depth to the space that’s hard to explain. It’s not just beautiful, it’s immersive. Quietly overwhelming in the best way. It makes you stop and stare and appreciate the effort that was put into it.

I’ve seen a lot of beautiful places, but this felt different. More intentional. More human.

Small Details That Stay With You

courtesy of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Akshardham

In Hindu tradition, shoes are removed before entering the temple. I was prepared for that because I had read up before visiting…. but I wasn’t prepared for the heated tile floors.

courtesy of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Akshardham

That small, thoughtful detail completely changed the experience. Walking across warm stone in the middle of winter felt grounding and comforting, like the space was welcoming you rather than just impressing you.

Sometimes it’s the smallest things that make the biggest emotional impact.

More Accessible Than It Looks

courtesy of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Akshardham

From the outside, the grounds look expansive (and they are) but the walking is very manageable. This isn’t a theme park or an endurance experience. It’s peaceful, well laid out, and easy to take in at your own pace.

There’s also:

   •   a gift shop

   •   a café serving Indian specialties

   •   a theater that shares history and cultural context

All of it adds layers to the visit without feeling commercial or rushed.

Free, Yet Priceless

Admission is completely free. You’re welcome to donate, but there’s no cost to enter … which almost feels unbelievable given what you experience inside.

To see something this beautiful, this carefully made, and this meaningful (without a price tag) is rare. It’s a reminder that not all extraordinary things are transactional.

The Part That Lingers

Like seeing the Grand Canyon, the full weight of the experience didn’t hit me right away. It came later, in quiet moments, when I realized how often my mind returned to the images, the craftsmanship, the feeling of walking through that space.

Some beauty doesn’t shout.

It waits for you to be ready to hear it.

If you’re anywhere near Robbinsville, NJ  (or even if you’re not) this is a must-visit. Not just for the architecture or the culture, but for the reminder that humans are capable of creating things that are both breathtaking and deeply intentional.

The Myth of January 1

It’s funny how once January 1 rolls around, everything is supposed to magically reset.

As if the calendar flips and suddenly we’re new people …motivated, disciplined, refreshed. But that’s not really how it works, is it?

The holidays build us up to this moment. They’re fun – to a point. They’re also chaotic, expensive, exhausting, and emotionally loaded. And then suddenly it’s over. Decorations come down. Credit card bills arrive. Life goes right back to normal. Nothing actually changes, except now we’re told it should.

We make resolutions. Big ones. Important ones. Things we know we should probably be doing all year long. But instead of starting when the idea first crosses our mind, we wait. We tell ourselves, I’ll start January 1.

And when January 1 comes?

Nothing magical happens.

The truth is, real change doesn’t start on a date. It isn’t tied to a year, a month, or a fresh page on the calendar. Change starts when we decide it starts. When we’re ready. When we stop outsourcing our motivation to some future moment that feels cleaner or more official.

Waiting for the “right time” is just another form of procrastination. We push things off until a milestone, then another one, and before we know it, nothing ever happens at all.

That doesn’t mean January 1 is bad. If that day genuinely motivates you, great. Use it. But it’s not required. And it’s not special on its own.

If you want to start changing something on June 2, on a random Tuesday, or in the middle of an otherwise ordinary week… that counts just as much. Maybe more. Because it’s honest. It’s real. It’s not performative or symbolic. It’s simply action.

So if you’re feeling flat after the holidays, you’re not alone. If the “new year, new you” energy already feels forced or unrealistic, that’s okay too. Nothing is wrong with you.

Change doesn’t need a countdown.

It doesn’t need fireworks.

It just needs a decision and a start.

Whatever day you choose, what matters isn’t when.

It’s that you actually do.

And that’s enough.

Peace Over Performance : What I’m Carrying With Me Into 2026

Peace Over Performance : What I’m Carrying With Me Into 2026

As the year comes to a close, I always find myself thinking about resolutions, even though I rarely stick to them in the traditional sense. Waiting for January 1st to suddenly become a new version of myself feels a little like a cop-out. Growth doesn’t happen on a calendar date.

As I get older, I’ve realized that evolution happens gradually. Quietly. Through awareness, healing, and honest reflection.

This past year, I’ve done a lot of introspection – and yes, that is a word – and in many ways, I feel like I already started my “resolution phase” months ago. What I want now isn’t a dramatic overhaul. I want to enter 2026 carrying the calm, grounded energy I’ve been cultivating.

The version of me who slows down.

Who pauses to notice the small things.

Who takes care of herself – not as an afterthought, but as a priority.

Listening to My Body Changed Everything

Earlier this year, I dealt with back issues that were both frustrating and eye-opening. The truth is, they aren’t going away – and pushing through them only makes things worse. The only option is to slow down, pace myself, and respect my limits.

And once I accepted that with my body, something clicked.

If I can listen to my body with compassion, I can do the same in other areas of my life – my schedule, my expectations, my energy.

That realization became the foundation for everything else.

Choosing Mindful Hobbies Over Constant Hustle

As part of taking care of my body, I decided it was time to take better care of my mind too. I wanted a hobby, not something productive, not something monetized, but something I genuinely looked forward to.

Over the past few months, I’ve taken:

•A bonsai class through Bonsai Bar

•A pottery throwing class at Wish Upon a Jar

I also had my eye on a mosaic art class, but after seeing the cost, I realized I could start at home. I found a beginner-friendly mosaic kit on Amazon and decided to explore it at my own pace – no pressure, no expectations.

What Bonsai Taught Me About Life

Bonsai, in particular, has been incredibly grounding.

You trim the tree – then you wait.

You make intentional cuts – then you let it recover.

Nothing is rushed. Nothing is wasted.

Every action has purpose.

It’s almost the opposite of the culture we live in – the constant “hurry up and wait,” the pressure to do more, be more, move faster.

Working with bonsai puts me into a flow state – that rare feeling where time fades away and your mind fully settles into the present moment.

I hadn’t felt that in a long time.

Finding Flow Again

Years ago, I used to feel that same sense of focus and presence when I practiced Muay Thai. That “in the zone” feeling where your mind clears and your body takes over.

I never thought I’d find that again, especially not through something quiet and gentle.

But pottery, bonsai, and creative work have given it back to me.

They require patience.

They demand attention.

They reward stillness.

And they remind me that mindfulness doesn’t have to be intense to be powerful.

The Energy I’m Bringing Into 2026

As I move into the new year, this is the energy I’m choosing:

•Pausing when I need to

•Slowing down without guilt

•Creating space to decompress

•Practicing self-care without justification

•Sitting with my thoughts instead of outrunning them

Peace over performance.

Presence over pressure.

Alignment over achievement.

That’s what I’m carrying with me into 2026.

And maybe that’s not a resolution, maybe it’s a return.

Final Reflection

If you’re feeling called to slow down too, start small.

One pause.

One boundary.

One creative outlet.

You don’t need to overhaul your life, just make enough space to hear yourself again.

What are you hoping to carry into the new year?

I’d love to know.

A Beginner’s Guide to Vagus Nerve Stimulation : My Experience with the Zenowell Device

A Beginner’s Guide to Vagus Nerve Stimulation : My Experience with the Zenowell Device

Disclosure: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links. This means that if you click through and make a purchase, I may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. I only share products I personally use and believe in.

What Is the Vagus Nerve and Why Does It Matter?

The vagus nerve is one of the most important communication pathways between the brain and body. It helps regulate heart rate, digestion, relaxation, and the “rest-and-digest” side of the nervous system. Because of its role in calming the body, the vagus nerve has become a major focus in wellness conversations – especially for those looking to support stress management and create more grounding routines.

One of the ways people explore vagus nerve support is through vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), a technique that uses gentle electrical impulses, vibration, breathwork, or temperature changes to activate the calming side of the nervous system. While clinical VNS devices require medical supervision, consumer wellness devices offer a more accessible, at-home way to incorporate vagus-focused practices into daily routines.

Why I Wanted to Try a Vagus Nerve Device

Zenowell LunaI’ve been paying more attention to nervous system regulation, slow living, and tools that make my evenings feel calmer and more grounded. I kept seeing discussions about the vagus nerve paired with breathwork, cold exposure, and mindfulness, but I was curious about how a device might fit into my routine.

That curiosity led me to the Zenowell Vagus Nerve Stimulator, a handheld, premium wellness device designed to support vagus-focused practices at home.

What Is the Zenowell Vagus Nerve Stimulator?

The Zenowell device is a non-invasive handheld tool that uses electrical micro-pulses to gently stimulate areas commonly associated with vagus nerve access points. It’s designed for home use and allows you to explore vagus-supporting routines without medical equipment or complicated setups.

Key Features

  • Adjustable intensity settings

  • Handheld intuitive design

  • Targeted placement guided by reference points

  • Sleek, travel-friendly size

  • Rechargeable with multiple session modes

These kinds of features are helpful for people seeking a structured way to experiment with vagus-nerve–focused wellness tools.

How Vagus Nerve Stimulation Supports Relaxation

Vagus nerve stimulation isn’t about quick fixes – it’s about supporting the way the body transitions into a calmer state. Many people incorporate vagus stimulation into routines such as:

      • evening wind-down rituals
  • breathwork sessions
  • meditation or journaling
  • warm baths or low-light environments
  • morning grounding practices

The idea is to gently encourage the body into a more relaxed mode, similar to other mindfulness techniques like slow breathing, gentle stretching, or humming.

My Experience Using the Zenowell Device

I found the Zenowell device most helpful when I paired it with habits I already enjoy – like slow evening routines, dim lighting, and quiet moments before bed. The handheld design made it easy to use without overthinking it, and the adjustable settings allowed me to find a level that felt comfortable and soothing.

I used it consistently during calm moments of my day rather than expecting immediate changes or results. It’s more of a supportive tool, like a diffuser, a journaling practice, or a grounding ritual.

Who Might Enjoy a Vagus Nerve Wellness Device?

A high-end wellness device like this may appeal to:

  • people exploring nervous system regulation

  • those who enjoy structured wellness routines

  • individuals who prefer tech-based tools

  • people who want a guided approach to relaxation

  • anyone curious about new wellness innovations

It’s also a good option for people who already invest in wellness tools like red-light devices, massage guns, meditation apps, or breathwork practices.

More Accessible Ways to Support the Vagus Nerve

Not everyone wants or needs a high-end wellness device, and that’s okay. There are many simple, low-cost ways to support the vagus nerve and create a calming routine using tools you may already have or can easily add to your home.

Below are a few approachable practices, along with free options and affordable products that pair well with nervous-system-focused routines.

1. Breathwork

One of the simplest ways to stimulate a relaxation response is through slow, intentional breathing. Practices like extended exhales, box breathing, or paced breathing can help signal the body to slow down.

Free resource:

Box breathing tutorial (YouTube has thousands of options)

Products to pair with breathwork:

Breathwork Book – A beginner-friendly guide to simple techniques.

Meditation Timer or App – Helps keep a steady pace during sessions.

Aromatherapy Diffuser – Supports a calm environment during practice.

2. Cold or Temperature Contrast

Temperature changes can play a role in calming the body. Something as simple as cool water on the face or a chilled gel mask can help you reset.

Free options:

• Splashing cool water on your face

• Stepping outside into fresh air for a moment

Products to enhance this practice:

Ice Roller – Great for face and neck cooling.

Gel Eye Mask – Can be chilled or warmed for contrast.

Stainless Steel Cooling Globes – Easy to store and use daily.

3. Gentle Vibration or Humming

Sound and vibration are often explored in nervous-system-supportive routines. Simple humming, chanting, or light vibration tools can create a soothing sensory experience.

Free options:

Humming or singing softly

Playing low-frequency calming music

Product add-ons:

Mini Vibration Tool – A small, targeted vibration device.

Sound Bowl or Tuning Fork – Creates gentle, calming tones.

4. Movement

Light movement is an easy way to support a calm body. Gentle stretching, yoga flows, or even short walks can help shift your energy.

Free options:

• A 10-minute stretching routine

• A short outdoor walk

Helpful products for a movement routine:

Yoga Mat – For stretching or grounding practices.

Acupressure Mat – Promotes relaxation post-stretch.

Foam Roller – Helps release tension in the shoulders and back.

5. Mindfulness Rituals

Mindfulness doesn’t have to be complicated. Simple rituals like journaling, grounding exercises, or quiet reflection can help regulate daily stress.

Free options:

5-minute check-in journaling

Guided meditations from YouTube

• A quiet moment with low lighting

Tools that complement mindfulness:

“Don’t Let Anybody Dull  Your Sparkle” Journal – A dedicated space for reflections and calm routines.

Meditation Cushion – Supports posture during mindfulness practices.

Soft Lighting or Flameless Candle – Helps set a relaxing mood.

Why These Tools Matter

These approaches can complement device-based routines or stand completely on their own if you prefer non-tech options. Whether you’re experimenting with breathwork, exploring calming rituals, or simply creating a cozy environment, these small habits add up and support a more intentional, grounded state.

Final Thoughts

Exploring vagus nerve stimulation has been an interesting addition to my wellness routine. For me, the Zenowell device isn’t meant to “fix” anything – it’s more about creating a ritual that signals calm, grounding, and intentional rest. If you’re curious about vagus nerve practices or want a structured tool to support your relaxation routine, you can learn more about the Zenowell device here and use my code LIFEBYJODY for a 15% discount.

De-Cember, De-Clutter, De-tach : Why I Declutter Every Season (Not Just in Spring)

declutter

De-Cember, De-Clutter, De-tach: Why I Declutter Every Season (Not Just in Spring)

There’s something about the end of the year, or honestly, any change of season, that makes me want to hit reset. And not in a chaotic, tear-your-house-apart kind of way… but in a slow, intentional way. This is why I declutter.

The kind of reset where you quietly look around your space and ask yourself:

Does this still add value to my life?

Does this still feel like me?

Or is it something I’m carrying out of habit, obligation, or guilt?

I came across a post recently that said:

“De-Cember, De-clutter, De-tach & De-lete anything that De-values your life. Don’t bring it into 2026.”

And honestly? That hit me.

Because spring cleaning doesn’t have a season, at least not for me.

I declutter when the weather shifts, when my energy shifts, when my life shifts.

New season, new light through the windows, new version of myself emerging and suddenly, clearing things out just feels right.

The interesting part? Every time I declutter, I feel physically lighter.

My brain gets quieter.

My space feels calmer.

I can think more clearly, almost like clutter creates mental noise that you don’t realize is there until it’s gone.

It’s not just about throwing things away.

It’s about making room for what actually matters.

Space to breathe.

Space to think.

Space to grow.

Swedish Death Cleaning Completely Changed the Way I Declutter

A while ago, I watched a documentary on Swedish Death Cleaning and it genuinely shifted something in me.

The concept isn’t as dark as it sounds. It’s actually grounded, gentle, and incredibly freeing.

Swedish death cleaning is about:

  • Letting go of things you no longer need

  • Organizing your life while you’re still able to

  • Making it easier on your loved ones later

  • Living with intention, not accumulation

It’s not about minimalism.

It’s about clarity.

Once I understood that, I started looking at my things differently.

Why am I keeping this?

Do I like it?

Do I use it?

Or am I saving it “just in case” for a version of me that doesn’t exist?

And the more I practiced letting go, the easier it became.

5 Things I Always Declutter When the Seasons Change

Here are a few areas I always revisit when I feel that seasonal reset energy coming on:

1. Products & Beauty Shelves

Expired skincare, old makeup, samples I kept “just to try.”

Gone.

It feels so good to start fresh.

2. Clothing That Doesn’t Feel Like Me Anymore

I’m convinced we shed identities the way trees shed leaves.

If it doesn’t fit my life, or my energy, I release it.

3. Digital Clutter

Screenshots, old emails, random notes I’ll never look at again.

A digital reset is as cleansing as a physical one.

4. Home Decor That Feels Heavy

I’m leaning more into lightness and simplicity these days.

If something feels visually loud, it goes.

5. “Just-In-Case” Items

This one was huge for me.

Most “just in case” items create more anxiety than they prevent.

A Season of Letting Go

This time of year, I’m letting go of more than just clutter:

  • Old patterns

  • Old obligations

  • Old versions of myself

  • Anything that feels heavy, draining, or expired

Because when you release what de-values your life, you make room for what can elevate it.

And honestly?

That’s the energy I’m taking into 2026.

If you’re feeling the urge to declutter too…

Start with one drawer.

One corner.

One shelf.

One bag of things you don’t need anymore.

You don’t have to overhaul your life, just clear enough space to breathe again.

Decluttering isn’t about perfection.

It’s about alignment.

And alignment always feels like home.

Do you declutter?

The Soft Reset : Choosing Comfort Over Hustle This Fall

The Soft Reset : Choosing Comfort Over Hustle This Fall

There’s something about fall that always feels like a quiet invitation to start over. Maybe it’s the shift in the air, or the way everything seems to slow down just a little … the air feels crisp, mornings feel softer, light filters differently through the windows, and suddenly, the idea of doing less starts to feel like enough.

In the past, I used to treat fall like a fresh-start season. I’d make long lists of goals, reset routines, reorganize everything in sight, and convince myself that “new season, new me” was the only way forward. But lately, I’ve been craving something gentler.

This year, my fall reset looks less like a to-do list and more like a mindset shift.

I’m choosing comfort over hustle and peace over performance. I’ve stopped organizing my life around everyone else’s chaos.

That means staying in bed that extra five minutes, taking longer afternoon walks, treating myself to a nice meal, fewer tabs open, slower mornings with a mug that actually gets finished while it’s still warm, and setting my phone to Do Not Disturb when needed.

It means saying no to the constant push to optimize every part of my life and (trying) not feeling guilty for actually saying no (and that’s another challenge in itself). Saying yes to things I want to do, not simply doing things because I’m expected to or because someone asks. Taking some control back is the reset I’ve been looking for.

It’s funny how much we’re taught to associate “reset” with productivity. But sometimes, the best kind of reset is stepping away from the pressure to constantly improve. Maybe it’s organizing one drawer instead of the whole house. Maybe it’s curling up with a blanket and not feeling guilty for binge-watching your favorite show. Maybe it’s just giving yourself permission to not be in a rush.

So this season, I’m not chasing a better version of myself. I’m slowing down long enough to actually meet her, to find out her needs and wants. It’s time to show up for myself, take care of myself, and gently “reset” my brain.

If fall has always felt like a season of change for you too, maybe this year it can be the season of staying grounded instead. Light the candle. Put on your sweatpants. Listen to your favorite music. Dance like nobody’s watching. Take a deep breath and notice the small, good things.

That’s the kind of reset that lasts.

The Summer Skincare Switch Up You Didn’t Know You Needed

summer skincare

The Summer Skincare Switch Up You Didn’t Know You Needed

As the temperatures rise, so should your skincare IQ. Summer brings longer days, stronger UV rays, and often, more sweat and oil production. So if you’re still slathering on that heavy winter moisturizer or skipping SPF (gasp!), it’s time for a seasonal skincare switch-up. Here’s how I tweak my routine for warmer months — and some of my favorite summer-approved products.

1. Swap Your Cleanser: Cream to Gel

In the winter, I love a creamy hydrating cleanser. But come summer, I switch to something lighter like a gel-based formula that helps clear sweat, oil, and SPF buildup without stripping my skin.

My Pick: CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser – Gentle, dermatologist-recommended, and budget-friendly.

2. Ditch Heavy Creams for Lightweight Moisturizers

Thick creams can feel suffocating when it’s hot. I opt for a water-based or gel moisturizer that keeps my skin hydrated without clogging pores.

Try: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel – Lightweight, absorbs fast, and ideal for combo/oily skin.

3. SPF Every. Single. Day.

Yes, even if you’re mostly inside. I use a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ daily, and reapply if I’m outside for more than a couple hours.

Fave for Face: Mixsoon Bean Sunscreen SPF 50 – Absorbs well and layers perfectly under makeup.

4. Add an Antioxidant Serum

Sun exposure leads to free radicals, which can cause premature aging. A Vitamin C serum in the morning helps protect and brighten.

Recommended: La Roche-Posay Vitamin C Serum – Potent yet gentle, with great results for sensitive skin.

5. Mask Smarter

Weekly clay or exfoliating masks help detox pores and prevent breakouts in the summer. I use something with natural fruit enzymes for a glow boost.

Summer Favorite: Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask – A clean beauty gem that makes my skin instantly brighter.

Life Lately – What I’ve Been Loving, Learning & Letting Go Of

Life Lately – What I’ve Been Loving, Learning & Letting Go Of

It’s been a minute since I sat down to write, and while I could blame it on being busy (which is true), the deeper reason is that I’ve been doing some soul searching behind the scenes. You know those seasons in life where you’re quietly shifting, even if things look the same on the outside? That’s where I’ve been lately.

So instead of another structured tip list or product roundup, I wanted to share something a little more personal. So, here’s a peek into what life’s been feeling like these days — through the lens of what I’m loving, learning, and letting go of.

💗 What I’m Loving

1. Slow mornings

I’ve been making space for slow starts, not rushing into the day, not diving into emails right away. Just letting myself breathe. A  morning snuggle with the dog, a little sunlight (I even got a Happy Light for my office) and my favorite podcast. It’s been a small shift, but it feels grounding in all the right ways.

2. Skin refresh mode

My skincare routine has gone lighter lately, and I’m loving the switch. Think gentle cleansers, calming serums, and hydrating mists. I’ve also been reaching for anything that feels nourishing. (More on that in an upcoming post!)

3. Saying yes to what sparks joy — and no to what drains me

Whether it’s people, plans, projects, or even work, I’m giving myself full permission to say yes only when it feels aligned. It’s empowering and honestly, long overdue.

🧠 What I’m Learning

1. That rest isn’t lazy — it’s necessary

I’ve always felt a little guilty when I’m not “doing” something.  I have so much to do in a day that I feel the need to fill every moment getting things done. But I’m learning that rest can be just as productive as action — especially when it’s intentional.

2. I don’t have to post constantly to be relevant

It’s easy to feel like if you’re not showing up online all the time, you’ll be forgotten. But here’s what I’ve learned: quality beats quantity. I’d rather share something honest and real than force content just to stay visible.

3. Comparison is a thief — and I don’t have time for it

Whether it’s social media, career, or even wellness routines — it’s easy to fall into the trap of measuring ourselves against others. I’m practicing staying in my own lane and giving myself grace.

✨ What I’m Letting Go Of

1. Perfectionism

I’m done with the idea that everything has to be just right before I share it, wear it, or do it. I’d rather be real than perfect. And I’m finding so much freedom in that.

2. Hustle energy 24/7

The world glamorizes burnout like it’s a badge of honor, but I’m choosing something softer. I’m still working, still growing, but I’m doing it with a little more ease.

3. Trying to do it all alone

Asking for help used to feel like failure. Now, I see it as strength. Whether it’s delegating, venting, or leaning on support, I’m letting people in and it’s making life feel a whole lot lighter.

Final Thoughts

Life doesn’t always require big dramatic changes. Sometimes it’s just subtle shifts … in mindset, in energy, in priorities … that realign us with who we are and how we want to live.

If you’ve been moving through your own quiet reset lately, I see you. And I’d love to know:

What are YOU loving, learning, or letting go of right now?

Drop it in the comments

Until next time,

💛 Jody

Blue Faithful – Jeans That Empower Women to Conquer Their Day

Blue Faithful – Pull-On Jeans That Empower Women to Conquer Their Day

Valentine’s Day might be behind us, but celebrating love—including self-love—happens every day. Today, I’m excited to share a game-changer in the world of denim: Blue Faithful, a women-led premium denim brand that’s redefining comfort, style, and inclusivity.

If you’ve ever struggled to find jeans that truly move with you, offer tummy control without the discomfort, and flatter every shape, then you’re going to love Blue Faithful’s pull-on jeans as much as I do.

The Story Behind Blue Faithful: A Legacy of Quality

Every great brand has a story, and Blue Faithful’s is stitched together with generations of experience and passion. Co-founder Lindsay Green, now based on Long Island, NY, grew up surrounded by fabrics, designs, and the intricate world of apparel manufacturing in Montreal, Canada. With a family legacy steeped in fashion, Lindsay was naturally drawn to the art of creating beautiful clothing.

But she wasn’t content with simply following in those footsteps. Instead, with the added expertise of her husband’s marketing background, Lindsay set out to create a brand that bridges the gap between comfort and sophistication—giving women pull-on jeans that offer the perfect blend of stretch, structure, and effortless style.

The result? Blue Faithful, a denim brand that prioritizes comfort, quality, and confidence.

Why Blue Faithful Pull-On Jeans Are a Wardrobe Essential

Finding the perfect pair of jeans can feel impossible. You want comfort, but you don’t want to sacrifice style. You want structure, but not the restriction of stiff denim. That’s where Blue Faithful’s pull-on high-rise jeans come in—they’re designed for everyday life and crafted to move with you, not against you.

What Sets These Jeans Apart?

4-Way Stretch – No stiff denim here! These jeans stretch in every direction, giving you complete freedom to move. Whether you’re running errands, working from home, or heading out for the night, they adapt to your lifestyle.

Tummy Control Without the Dig – Unlike traditional jeans that can pinch and dig into your waist, Blue Faithful’s pull-on jeans feature a no-dig waistband that smooths and supports without discomfort.

A Tailored Look, No Button or Zipper Needed – Say goodbye to stiff waistbands and constant adjustments. These jeans provide a sleek, polished fit with the ease of a pull-on design.

High-Quality Fabric That Retains Its Shape – Ever had jeans that lose their fit after one wear? Not with these. Blue Faithful’s denim is crafted to maintain its structure, so you don’t have to worry about sagging or stretching out by the end of the day.

Inclusive Sizing for Every Body – Available in sizes 2-24, these jeans are designed to flatter all shapes and sizes, ensuring that every woman feels confident and stylish.

Explore Blue Faithful’s collection of pull-on high-rise jeans and slim-leg jeans for a perfect fit that moves with you.

Year-Round Radiance : Why Suncare for Your Skin Is Essential Every Season

Year-Round Radiance : Why Suncare for Your Skin Is Essential Every Season

When you think of sunscreen, you might picture sunny beaches and blazing summer heat. In reality, protecting your skin from UV damage is a 365-day commitment—whether it’s the peak of summer or the coldest day in winter. Below, we’ll delve into why sunscreen matters all year, how to adapt your routine to different seasons, and why it’s critical if you use retinol or a retinoid in your skincare.

Disclaimer: This post may contain affiliate links. If you make a purchase through these links, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you for your support!

Understanding UV Rays and Their Impact on Your Skin

Two primary types of ultraviolet rays—UVA and UVB—play a major role in skin damage and can even lead to skin cancer:

1. UVA Rays penetrate deeply, accelerating premature aging, wrinkles, and age spots.

2. UVB Rays cause sunburn and can directly damage DNA in skin cells.

What’s surprising is that up to 80% of these rays can still reach your skin on cloudy or snowy days! This underscores why year-round sun protection is vital.

The Myths Surrounding Suncare: Debunking Common Misconceptions

Myth 1: “Sunscreen is only for sunny days.”

Truth: UV radiation can penetrate cloud cover and reflect off snow, water, and sand. Even if it’s overcast—or if you’re indoors near windows—your skin can still be exposed to harmful rays.

Myth 2: “Darker skin doesn’t need sunscreen.”

Truth: While melanin offers some natural protection, it does not eliminate the risk of UV damage or skin cancer. All skin tones benefit from daily sunscreen use.

Winter Suncare Matters—Especially If You Use Retinol or Retinoids

The sun’s rays don’t hibernate in the winter, and snow actually reflects up to 80% of UV rays, intensifying exposure. This is crucial if you’re using retinol or retinoids (Vitamin A derivatives often found in anti-aging or acne treatments). These ingredients increase skin sensitivity to sunlight, making daily sunscreen application an absolute must to prevent irritation, hyperpigmentation, and other sun-induced damage.

Learn more about retinol and photosensitivity from Dermatology Times.

Key Tips:

1. Moisturizing SPF: Opt for a sunscreen that offers both hydration and protection to combat winter dryness.

2. Daily Commitment: Even on the darkest, coldest days, apply SPF if you’re using retinol or retinoids to protect vulnerable skin.

3. Don’t Forget Reapplication: If you spend extended time outdoors (e.g., skiing, shoveling snow), reapply every two hours.

Tips for Incorporating Suncare into Your Daily Routine

1. Choose a Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen

•Look for labels that say “broad-spectrum,” protecting against both UVA and UVB rays.

•Aim for an SPF of at least 30.

2. Re-apply Regularly

•Sunscreen effectiveness diminishes over time. Set a reminder to reapply every two hours, especially if you’re active or in direct sunlight.

3. Combine with Your Skincare

•Many moisturizers and makeup products now include SPF. If you use a retinoid at night, layer a gentle moisturizer plus sunscreen in the morning to reduce dryness and sensitivity.

4. Adapt to the Seasons

Winter: A richer, hydrating sunscreen can prevent dryness.

Spring: Transition to a lighter sunscreen as temperatures rise.

Summer: A water-resistant SPF 50+ is advisable if you’re swimming or sweating.

Fall: Opt for a sunscreen that hydrates and protects as the air becomes drier.

The Long-Term Benefits of Year-Round Suncare

Prevents Premature Aging: Consistent sun protection reduces fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.

Lowers Skin Cancer Risk: Sunscreen is a critical line of defense against serious skin conditions.

Protects Retinol-Treated Skin: A daily SPF regimen safeguards the newfound smoothness and radiance retinol can provide.

Enhances Overall Skin Health: Less inflammation, fewer flare-ups, and a youthful glow—no matter the season.

Top 5 Sunscreens to Consider

1. EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46

Why It’s Great: Lightweight, oil-free formula that’s gentle on acne-prone or sensitive skin—ideal for retinol users.

2. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion SPF 50

Why It’s Great: Combines a refreshing water-gel texture with high UVA/UVB protection; great for all-day hydration.

3. La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Mineral Sunscreen

Why It’s Great: Mineral-based formula with Zinc Oxide, perfect for sensitive skin and daily retinoid users.

4. Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40

Why It’s Great: Totally invisible, velvety finish that layers beautifully under makeup—ideal for those who hate the “sunscreen feel.”

5. Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Lotion Sunscreen SPF 60

Why It’s Great: Broad-spectrum coverage with nourishing oats; helps maintain moisture balance in dry winter climates.

Embracing Year-Round Suncare for Healthy, Resilient Skin

Suncare isn’t just about preventing sunburn—it’s a proactive approach to overall skin health. By applying sunscreen every day—even in winter—you preserve the benefits of your retinol or retinoid treatments, prevent premature aging, and protect yourself from harmful UV radiation. Whether it’s a hydrating SPF in winter or a sweat-resistant one in summer, the key is consistency. Make sunscreen a non-negotiable step in your skincare routine, and you’ll be investing in a lifetime of healthier, more radiant skin.

Have you made sunscreen a daily habit? Share your favorite SPF products or tips in the comments below! And remember, no matter the weather, a good sunscreen is your best bet for year-round radiance.

A Bold Journey: My Story, My Work Ethic, and My Vision

A Bold Journey: My Story, My Work Ethic, and My Vision

I’m beyond excited to share that I was recently featured in an article with Bold Journey, where I opened up about my path to content creation, the lessons I’ve learned, and how I’ve built a career I’m truly passionate about. This experience allowed me to reflect on where I’ve been and where I’m headed, and I’d love to share more with you all here!

Where My Work Ethic Began

Growing up, my parents taught me that if I wanted something, I had to earn it. We didn’t have a lot, and that instilled in me the value of hard work from an early age. I remember doing chores like raking leaves, waxing the car, or emptying the dishwasher for a bit of pocket money. These small but meaningful lessons planted the seeds of independence that have stayed with me throughout my life.

As an adult, that work ethic has been my anchor. Whether it was staying late at a job, putting in overtime, or simply showing up day after day, I’ve always understood the importance of giving 100%. Hard work isn’t just about achieving goals; it’s about the sense of pride and self-worth that comes with knowing you’ve earned your success.

Taking the Leap into Content Creation

For years, I juggled a demanding 7-to-3 job with a two-hour daily commute. It was draining—mentally, physically, and emotionally. Things reached a breaking point when my health began to suffer. Living with sleep disorders made those long commutes dangerous, and I knew I couldn’t keep going the way I was.

That’s when I made one of the boldest decisions of my life: I turned my part-time passion for content creation into a full-time career. It wasn’t easy, but it was necessary, and it’s been the most rewarding decision I’ve ever made.

Today, I’m proud to be a part of RentMyLooks.com, a subscription-based clothing rental service that’s changing how people think about fashion- sustainability, there is no fast fashion waste! I’ve also re-launched LifeByJody.com, my lifestyle and beauty blog, which allows me to connect with others, share my passions, and inspire others to pursue their dreams.

The Qualities That Shaped My Journey

Looking back, there are three key traits that have been pivotal in my journey:

1.Perseverance – Staying committed to my goals, even when progress felt slow, has been crucial.

2.Resilience – Setbacks are inevitable, but learning to bounce back stronger each time has made all the difference.

3.Determination – Keeping my eyes on the prize, no matter how many obstacles appeared along the way, has driven me forward.

My advice to anyone starting out is simple: don’t give up. The road may be bumpy, but every small step forward gets you closer to your goal.

Managing Overwhelm and Finding Balance

Let’s be honest: content creation can be overwhelming. Deadlines, schedules, and the constant drive to stay creative can take their toll. When I feel overwhelmed, I’ve found that stepping back is essential. A walk, a breath, or a quiet moment to reset can work wonders.

I also live by my planner—it’s my lifeline! Mapping out content for the month helps me stay organized and ensures I’m always ahead of the game. Planning ahead gives me flexibility to take breaks when needed, though I often use that time to shoot even more content (creator life!).

But perhaps the most important lesson I’ve learned is to give myself grace. If I miss a deadline or need a moment to regroup, it’s okay. What matters is showing up again the next day, ready to give it my all.

Why This Journey Matters

For me, this isn’t just about creating content; it’s about connecting with people, sharing stories, and proving that it’s never too late to rewrite your path. I want to inspire others to take that leap of faith, to follow their passions, and to know that with perseverance, resilience, and determination, anything is possible.

Thank you to Bold Journey for giving me the opportunity to share my story. I’m so grateful to my community for supporting me along the way, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

New Year, New Glow : Self-Care Practices to Start 2025 Right

New Year, New Glow : Self-Care Practices to Start 2025 Right

The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to hit reset and focus on yourself. With the hustle and bustle of the holidays behind us, January offers an opportunity to prioritize your well-being. Let’s dive into some self-care practices that will help you start 2025 glowing—inside and out.

This post contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase through these links, I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Thank you for your support!

Physical Self-Care: Nourish and Flourish

Your body is your temple, and taking care of it is the foundation of self-care. Here are some simple ways to honor your physical health:

Revamp Your Skincare Routine: The winter months can be harsh on your skin, so hydrate and protect it with a solid skincare regimen. Start with a gentle cleanser, followed by a hydrating serum and moisturizer. Don’t forget sunscreen—even in winter!  Here are some products that are great for dry, winter skin:

Get Moving: Whether it’s yoga, brisk walking, or even dancing in your living room, find a way to stay active that brings you joy. Consistent movement boosts endorphins and keeps you feeling energized.

Fuel Your Body Well:  Incorporate nutrient-dense foods into your meals. A smoothie can be a great on-the-go option, and meal prepping can make healthy eating easier.

I’ve found that smoothies are lifesavers on busy days. I recently discovered Truvani’s vegan and gluten-free protein powder, which has only five pronounceable ingredients—no chalky or weird aftertaste. For snacks, I’m obsessed with Truvani’s Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Bar; it tastes like actual banana bread! I just ordered the variety pack to try all the flavors.

When life gets hectic, I also rely on food delivery services. I’ve tried HelloFresh and Blue Apron, but lately, I’ve been loving Tovala. Their smart oven scans meal cards and cooks everything perfectly, from toast to filet mignon. Even if you stop ordering meals, the oven is worth keeping for its versatility.

Mental Self-Care: Clear Your Mind

Caring for your mental well-being is just as important as taking care of your body. Practice mindfulness, take 10 minutes each morning to sit in stillness, focus on your breath, or try a guided meditation. This helps center your mind for the day ahead.  Headspace is a  popular app that offers you can learn about the basics of meditation and they even offer a 14 day free trial.

I had heard about vagus nerve devices and was very curious about them so I waited for a sale and purchased the Apollo Neuro which is designed to offer the benefits of mindfulness practices like meditation and breathwork, through our body’s natural response to touch, it evens boasts better sleep.  After one week I was hooked on it, it not only helps increase my deep sleep time but it also helps when I’m stressed or have anxiety.  The gentle vibrations really help keep me calm.  My Apple Health app picks it up as 468 min of mindful minutes a day!

Set Boundaries: Protect your mental energy by saying no to things that don’t serve you. Start prioritizing what truly matters.  I like to keep a board in my room that says “set boundaries” to always remind myself that I am the captain of my ship.  It’s not always easy to say no but over time it does become easier.

Journal Your Thoughts: Writing down your feelings and reflections can be incredibly therapeutic. Start by jotting down three things you’re grateful for each day. I like using an inspirational journal to write down and reflect my thoughts.

Create a Self-Care Ritual: Dedicate an evening to pampering yourself—run a bubble bath, light candles, and listen to your favorite music or watch your favorite binge worthy show.

self careEmotional Self-Care: Fill Your Cup

Your emotional well-being is the cornerstone of your happiness. Here are some ways to nurture it:

Create a Self-Care Ritual: Dedicate one evening a week to pampering yourself. Draw a bubble bath, light candles, and indulge in your favorite playlist or binge-worthy show.

Pursue Joyful Hobbies: Make time for activities that spark joy. This year, I plan to dive into creative outlets like bedazzling accessories and painting.

Stay Connected: Relationships play a big role in emotional health. Schedule regular coffee dates or phone calls with friends and loved ones who uplift you.

My Self-Care Journey for 2025

Last year was a whirlwind for me, and I often put my needs on the back burner. But not this year! My plan for 2025 includes morning meditation, evening skincare rituals, and making time for creative hobbies like bedazzling my favorite things and painting. I’m also committing to moving more—whether it’s riding my bike or just walking around the neighborhood.

self careThe most important lesson I’ve learned? Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential.

Final Thoughts

This January, let self-care take center stage. By nourishing your physical, mental, and emotional well-being, you’ll be ready to handle anything 2025 has in store.

Remember: when you take care of yourself, everything else falls into place.

Which self-care practice will you try first? Let me know in the comments below!
